Nadigayar Thilakam Review

STORY:

Madhuravani (Samantha), an underdog reporter and Antony (Vijay Deverakonda), a photographer, are assigned with the work of doing an article on legendary actress Savithri (Keerthy Suresh).

The popular star remains in coma since a year and the journalist and the lensman start following her story.

They attend a media meet of her husband Gemini Ganesan (Dulquer Salmaan), and get an idea that there is more to Savithri’s story than anyone knows.

From here on, we are shown the (hi)story of Savithri- from her ealy days to her entry into cinema to her rise to stardom to her personal life to her last days.

ANALYSIS:

Nadigayar Thilakam is not just a bio-pic, it’s a beatufiul portrayal of the life of Savithri on screen. Director Nag Ashwin should be lauded for making the movie with a lot of conviction.

For Keerthy Suresh, it is undoubtedly the best film so far in her career. And she has pulled the challenging character with so much ease and elan. Watching Keerthy is like watching Savithri alive on screen. She is so close to the original.

Samantha has played a strong supporting role. Dulquer Salman is excellent as Gemini Ganesan. The production values, camerawork by Dani and music by Micky J Meyerm are just up to the mark.

On the otherhand, the film moves in its own pace and there are many melodramatic scenes. But these things can be overlooked if you are serious about watching a sensible film on a yesteryear legend.

Rating: 4 out of 5
