Muthina Kathirikai Tamil Movie Review

STORY:

Muthupandi (Sundar C), who is in his early 40s, remains unmarried as he loses his father at a very young age, and hence, had to take care of the whole family.

He is a small time politician with a national party and his dream is to make it big in politics. But two regional parties, which are strong in the area, have upper hand in his locality and pose hurdles to him.

In the meantime, cupid strikes Muthupandi when he comes across Maya (Poonam Bajwa),  daughter of his teenage crush (Kiran Rathod). The remaining of Muthina Kathirika is all about how Muthupandi emerges triumphant in both– career and love.

ANALYSIS:

Kudos to Sundar C for selecting a story that fits his age. A remake of Malayalam hit Vellimoonga, Muthina Kathirika, directed by Venkatt Ragavan (a former associate of Sundar), is a laugh riot in most parts.

Though there are scenes that are familiar and some portions that move slow, Muthina Kathirika is a paisa vasool entertainer, as it might not make you regret your decision to watch it.

Sundar performs well, while Poonam Bhajwa looks slightly old than the age of her character. Sathish, Singam Puli, Sriman and VTV Ganesh evoke laughter, but there is sleaze in their comedy.

N Srikanth’s editing, Bhanu Murugan’s cinematography and Siddharth Vipin’s music— all are strictly average. But still, you can watch Muthina Kathirika once for the ‘time pass’ it provides.

Verdict: Average
