Oru Naal Koothu Tamil Movie Review

STORY:

There are three women. While Mia George’s father postpones her wedding, that of Rithika’s too gets delayed as she is unable to find her right partner for life.

Meanwhile there is Nivetha Pethuraj, who is caught between her lover (played by Attakathi Dinesh) and her family. What happens in their lives and why wedding is an issue is what Oru Naal Koothu is all about.

ANALYSIS:

Debutant filmmaker Nelson acknowledges the influence of K Balachander, Balu Mahendra and Alexander Gonsalez Inarritu even as the film begins.

Then comes a story, which remnds us heavily Karthik Subbaraj’s Iraivi we had watched just a week ago. Broadcasting head at a popular radio station before trying his luck in cinema, Nelson has apparently brought on screen the lives of women he had met in his real life.

While he tries to explore the various aspects of marriage from the perspectives of different people, actors and actresses who have played key roles have delivered goods.

Attakathi Dinesh, Mia George, Nivetha Pethuraj, Rithwika, Karunakaran, Bala Saravanan and Ramesh Thilak, all are good in their respective roles. Gokul’s cinematography and Justin Prabhakaran’s music (Adiye Azhage is a sample) are other highlights.

Had the director focussed on bringing down loose ends and the melodrama feel that prevails throughout the film, Oru Naal Koothu, produced by Kenanya Films, would have emerged a great product.
