Tamil cinema celebrates 10 National Film Awards as CM Vijay congratulates winners
Tamil cinema enjoyed a major achievement at the 72nd National Film Awards, taking home 10 honours across different categories.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay congratulated filmmakers, actors, composers and technicians from the industry, describing the achievement as a source of pride for the state.
In a statement issued through the Tamil Nadu Department of Information and Public Relations, Vijay praised the Tamil film fraternity for its performance at the awards and wished the industry continued success.
Among those recognised were Dhanush for Raayan, Rajkumar Periasamy, GV Prakash Kumar and R Kalaivanan for Amaran, Anl Arasu and Sachana Namidass for Maharaja, Suren G for Meiyazhagan and Hari Harasudhan for the short film Blue.
The Chief Minister’s message was acknowledged by several award recipients. Amaran director Rajkumar Periasamy thanked Vijay publicly on X for his wishes.
Composer GV Prakash Kumar, who received the National Award for Best Music Direction (Background Score) for Amaran, also expressed his gratitude.
The exchange added to the celebrations surrounding Tamil cinema’s strong showing at this year’s National Film Awards.
