Suriya’s Karuppu OTT streaming rights bagged by Netflix
Multiple reports are strongly suggesting that the OTT streaming rights for Suriya’s upcoming film, Karuppu, have been acquired by Netflix.
Netflix has reportedly bagged the digital rights for the film, likely for all language versions, for a significant price.
This deal is significant because the film’s theatrical release (which was previously delayed) was reportedly dependent on finalizing the non-theatrical deals. With the OTT deal reportedly locked, a release date announcement is expected soon.
The film, directed by R.J. Balaji, is now reportedly being lined up for an early 2026 release, possibly around the Republic Day weekend (January 23, 2026), following the Pongal festivities.
Karuppu is Suriya’s 45th film, a mass action drama that also features Trisha Krishnan, marking their reunion after a long gap.
As with all major streaming deals, an official announcement from the film’s producer (Dream Warrior Pictures) or Netflix is expected shortly to confirm the news.
