Sun Pictures move Madras High Court for change in ‘A’ certification for Coolie
The production banner of Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie, Sun Pictures is appealing to the Madras High Court for a U/A certificate for the film in place of the originally issued ‘A’ certificate, reveals sources close to the development.
It is the first Rajinikanth starrer in over three decades to receive an ‘A’ certificate from the Censor Board.
However, since the release of the film, a section of the audience has been questioning the reason for the said certificate.
Senior lawyer and Sun Pictures representative J Ravindran is moving the court for an emergency hearing.
A bench headed by Judge TV Tamilselvi is set to hear the case on August 20, Wednesday.
Coolie has moments of violence and bloodshed, but not everyone is convinced by the Censor Board’s decision to issue an ‘A’ certificate for the film.
The production banner’s contention seems to stem from the fact that films with more violence, such as the KGF franchise, received U/A certificates from the Censor Board.
