Stella Maris College organises Eucharistic Celebration of Jubilee Year

  • The College celebrates 75 years of glorious existence (1947 – 2022)

Stella Maris College honoured its 75th Jubilee year with a concelebrated Mass led by His Grace, Rev. Dr. Antonysamy the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore in the presence of the Sisters of the FMM community, guests, benefactors, well-wishers, faculty, staff and students.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sr. Rosy Joseph fmm, Principal, Stella Maris College stated, “The seventy-five years of sailing through the rough seas of history has brought us here today, a diverse community which celebrates differences, welcomes challenges, and works towards the attainment of a common goal: the empowerment of young women “to face the challenges of life with courage and conviction.”

Form student strength of 32 in 1947, the College, today, has more than 5500 students enrolled in 23 undergraduate 14 postgraduate, 5 M.Phil. and 7 Ph.D. programmes. True to its mission, the College serves the educational needs of young women from diverse communities, particularly those from economically and socially disadvantaged sections of society.

The FMM management has reached out in several ways to these students by way of scholarships and fee waivers. The 75th jubilee scholarships will be instituted shortly, in addition to the silver, golden jubilee and other management scholarships.

The Eucharistic celebration was followed by the felicitation of the Archbishop¸ priests and the Sisters of the FMM community.

The Jubilee Celebrations will witness celebrations of the milestone with retired faculty (noon event) and the Alumnae Association of Stella Maris College (AASMC) on 7 May 2022 (Saturday).
