Stella Maris College Hosts International Conference on Innovative Strategies in AI for Global Horizons in Trade & Commerce

The Department of Commerce (Shift II), Stella Maris College (Autonomous), Chennai, successfully conducted  an International Conference on “Innovative Strategies in AI for Global Horizons in Trade & Commerce” on October 7, 2025, at the campus. The event brought together academicians, researchers,  industry leaders, and students from across the globe to explore the growing influence of Artificial  Intelligence (AI) in transforming global trade, finance, and business operations.

The inaugural session began with a warm welcome from Dr. (Sr.) Stella Mary fmm, Principal, Stella Maris  College, who emphasized the significance of preparing young learners to thrive in an AI-driven global  economy. Dr. Ezhilan Naganathan, MLA, served as the Chief Guest for the occasion. In his address, Dr. Ezhilan  – an eminent physician, legislator, and social reformer – shared deep insights on the integration of AI  in the healthcare sector. He highlighted how AI is reshaping diagnostics, treatment, and public health  management while urging for ethical, inclusive, and human- centered implementation of emerging  technologies.

The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Ravindran Sambandam, CEO, Lexenius Legal GCC, Ireland, who  discussed AI’s transformative impact on global commerce, trade, and governance. The Conference  Proceedings, containing a compilation of the research papers presented at the event, were officially released  during the inaugural session. The technical sessions featured eminent speakers including:

● Mr. Shanaka Rabel, Group Chief Digital & Transformation Officer, Stretchline Holdings Limited, Sri  Lanka
● Mr. Lalith Kumar Jain, Co-Founder, The Design Intellect, Chennai
● Ms. Sofiya Mohan, Director, Foloosi FinTech, UAE
● Mr. Ravindran Sambandam, CEO, Lexenius Legal GCC, Ireland

Parallel paper presentation sessions, chaired by Dr. Nisha U, Dean of Research & Consultancy, M.O.P.  Vaishnav College, and Dr. D. Jerusha Irene Chitra, Assistant Professor, Loyola College, provided researchers  a platform to present their pioneering studies on AI applications in marketing, fintech, workforce  development, and sustainable commerce. 

The conference concluded with a valedictory session that recognized the contributions of presenters,  participants, and organizing members. The event underscored Stella Maris College’s ongoing commitment to  fostering academic excellence, advancing research innovation, and promoting global engagement at the  intersection of commerce, technology, and society.
