Speaker JCD Prabhakaran accepts resignation of 3 AIADMK rebels

Within an hour of the resignation of three MLAs, who were among the 25 AIADMK rebels supported the Trust vote moved by Chief Minister Vijay, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker JCD Prabhakar accepted their resignations as they were found in order.

The three MLAs are Ms Maragadam Kumaravel (Madurantakam), S.Jayakumar (Perundurai) and Sathyabama (Dharapuram), who were facing the threat of possible disqualification for supporting the Vijay government by violating the Party Whip during the trust vote.

Talking to reporters at his chamber in the State Secretariat here, he said their resignation was found in the proper format as per the Assembly Rules and hence it was accepted.

All the 25 rebels are facing the threat of disqualification under the anti-defection law for violating the Party Whip during the trust vote as the rival group lacked 2/3rd majority among the MLAs in the House.

Along with this three seats, the ECI would soon announce the bypolls for Trichy East seat also, which fell vacant following the resignation of Chief Minister and TVK Founder Vijay, who got elected from two seats in the April 23 elections, while deciding to retain the Perambur seat in Chennai city.
