Soori’s Mandaadi wins praise for its coastal drama and action
Soori’s latest film Mandaadi has been receiving attention for its story, performances and large-scale sequences set around the sea.
The film is written and directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, a former assistant to filmmaker Vetri Maaran. Soori, Suhas, Mahima Nambiar and Sathyaraj lead the cast, while Elred Kumar has produced the project.
After praise from Superstar Rajinikanth, Vetri Maaran has praised the team’s work and said the film’s reception indicates that audiences have connected with its story. He also highlighted the response coming from Telugu-speaking regions, describing the film’s reach across language audiences as an encouraging development.
He congratulated Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, Soori and Elred Kumar, while pointing to the challenges involved in making a film built around such a subject.
Mandaadi revolves around a boat-racing event in a coastal community. Soori and Suhas play members of the same racing team whose relationship becomes strained following a conflict. Their paths eventually cross again as the major coastal competition approaches.
Sathyaraj appears in a flashback portion, while the supporting cast includes Mithun Jai Sankar, Ravindravjay, Bala Saravanan and Stun Siva.
The technical crew includes composer GV Prakash, cinematographer SR Kathir, editor Pradeep E Ragav and production designer DRK Kiran. Action directors Peter Hein, Dhilip Subbarayan and Mahesh Mathew have handled the film’s stunt sequences, with the climactic boat race emerging as one of the major talking points among viewers.
