Samantha’s Shaakuntalam release postponed

The much-awaited period film Shaakuntalam, which was set to release on November 4, will now be delayed. The film, starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Dev Mohan, is based on Kalidasa’s Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shaakuntalam.

The film will now be made in 3D, due to which the makers have postponed its release date. Shaakuntalam, which was set to release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada, will now have a new release date.

The makers took to Twitter to share an official note to announce that the release date of Shakuntalam will be delayed. “We will be announcing the new release date soon! ‘#Shaankuntalam Also in 3D,” read the caption.

The note read, “We aim to give a bigger experience with Shaakuntalam and immerse you in the World of Shaakuntalam, for which we as a team felt 3D would be a brilliant way. To facilitate this, we would be taking some time to put forth and so, will be unable to meet the earlier announced date of release. We thank the support and love showered upon us. From around the worl, hoping for your support in this too!. We will be announcing the new release date soon.”
