Ruling parties win in by–election in seven constituencies
In Assembly Bye Elections for seven Constituencies across five States, BJP has won a seat each in Gujarat, Tripura and Nagaland, and is leading in one in Maharashtra.
Congress has won two seats in Karnataka, while in Maharashtra BJP ally Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is leading in the other constituency where bypoll was held.
In Dharmanagar constituency of Tripura, BJP’s Jahar Chakraborti has defeated Amitabha Datta of Communist Party of India (Marxist) by a margin of 18 thousand 290 votes.
While in Koridang Assembly Constituency of Nagaland, Daochier I Imchen of BJP has defeated independent candidate, Toshikaba by a margin of 3 thousand 123 votes.
In Umreth Constituency of Gujarat, Harshadbhai Govindbhai Parmar of BJP has won by a margin of by 30 thousand 743 votes. In Karnataka, Congress candidate, Umesh Hullappa Meti has won from Bagalkot constituency by more than 22 thousand votes.
In Devanagere-South Constituency, Samarth Shamanur Mallikaarjun of Congress has defeated Shrinivasa T. Dasakariyappa of BJP with more than five thousand votes.
In Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Ajit Pawar of NCP is maintaining a lead of more than two lakh votes in Baramati Constituency.
While in Rahuri, Akshay Shivajirao Kardile of BJP defeated Mokate Govind Khandu of NCP with more than one lakh twelve thousand votes.
