RSS leader Ram Lal calls for dialogue and harmony in Kashmir, rejects Rahul Gandhi’s allegations
Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Ram Lal has urged people in Jammu and Kashmir to avoid being swayed by outside influences and stressed that violence cannot create lasting unity. He also rejected Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegation that the organisation treats women as subordinate and denies them equal rights, calling the claim false.
Lal made the remarks during a gathering in Srinagar organised under the banner of “Asluk Aalav”. The event was conducted jointly by the RSS, the Jammu and Kashmir Development Foundation and Al Rahim Trust, bringing together representatives from business, youth groups, civil society and other sections of the community.
The organisers said the conference was intended to encourage dialogue, strengthen relationships across social groups and promote collective participation in Jammu and Kashmir’s development.
Addressing the gathering, Lal emphasised the importance of meaningful conversations between communities, saying they could help build mutual understanding, trust and social harmony.
Speaking to reporters, he described Kashmiris as warm and hospitable people and referred to the region’s history of cultural coexistence. He highlighted the traditions of Sanatani and Sufi saints as examples of communities living and working together.
Lal also urged people not to allow violence to undermine the bonds between different sections of society. His comments placed the focus on cooperation, dialogue and preserving the region’s shared cultural traditions.
The event forms part of the organisers’ efforts to bring together people from diverse backgrounds and encourage sustained engagement on social cohesion and regional development.
