Right Movie Review

A Promising Thriller with Engaging Moments

The film opens intriguingly inside the Kovalam Police Station on an unusually quiet day, with many officers away on duty. The calm atmosphere is quickly disrupted when an elderly man (Arun Pandian) seeks help to find his missing son, last seen after a night at a pub. At the same time, a woman officer (Akshara Reddy) arrives with a wedding invitation, only to unintentionally trigger chaos by switching on a laptop that reveals the station’s network has been hacked. Tension peaks when a bomb hidden under a police writer’s chair explodes, plunging the station into panic. Soon after, a mysterious audio message plays, raising the stakes for everyone trapped inside. From the outset, the film builds curiosity with this gripping setup.

The performances contribute significantly to the film’s engagement. Akshara Reddy delivers a strong and confident act, giving her character both poise and depth. Arun Pandian brings dignity to his role as the worried father, while Aditya makes a commendable debut, fitting naturally into the narrative. Yuvina, remembered fondly from Veeram, impresses in her short screen time. Vinodhini deserves special mention for her effortless portrayal as the Judge, adding weight to crucial moments. Even the lighter touches, though not always perfectly timed, provide relief from the otherwise tense atmosphere.

Narratively, the film draws inspiration from gripping dramas like Unnai Pol Oruvan and Yuddham Sei. The first half, especially, maintains a brisk pace with its unpredictable turns, confined setting, and clever reveals. Though the second half introduces multiple layers of suspicion, it keeps viewers guessing about motives and outcomes, ensuring that curiosity remains alive till the end.

On the technical side, the cinematography enhances the claustrophobic mood of the police station, effectively capturing both the chaos and suspense. The editing in the early portions is sharp, while the background score underlines the urgency of key sequences. The single song, though simple, provides a brief breather amidst the high-stakes drama.

In conclusion, Right may not be flawless, but it offers an engaging cinematic experience. With its suspenseful premise, committed performances, and technically strong moments, the film succeeds in delivering a thriller that keeps the audience invested. It is a promising attempt that entertains with its setup and performances, making it worth a watch.
