Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar assumes additional charge as Tamil Nadu Governor

Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was sworn in as the 27th Governor of Tamil Nadu at Lok Bhavan in Chennai, with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, senior ministers, and top officials in attendance.

Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari administered the oath, and the ceremony marked Arlekar’s formal assumption of additional charge while continuing as Kerala’s Governor.

His appointment follows the transfer of R.N. Ravi to West Bengal, a move announced by Rashtrapati Bhavan as part of a wider gubernatorial reshuffle.

The resignation of West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose led to immediate changes in gubernatorial assignments.

R.N. Ravi was appointed as the new Governor of West Bengal, and Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar was given additional charge of Tamil Nadu while continuing as Kerala’s Governor.

The changes were part of a broader reshuffle announced by President Droupadi Murmu affecting multiple states and Union Territories, taking place ahead of Tamil Nadu’s assembly elections.
