Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled a prototype of the Vande Bharat sleeper coach
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday unveiled the prototype of the much-anticipated Vande Bharat sleeper coach at BEML’s facility in Bengaluru.
The coach will undergo a rigorous 10-day trial period before hitting the tracks for further testing.
“After Vande Bharat chair cars, we were working on Vande Bharat sleeper cars. Its manufacturing has now been completed. This train will go out for the trial and testing from the BEML facility today,” Vaishnaw said.
The Minister inspected the new sleeper coach and interacted with railway staff who designed and produced it. They highlighted key differences between the new sleeper coaches and the existing ones, especially in terms of speed, safety, and passenger amenities.
Vaishnaw announced that the Vande Bharat sleeper train is expected to be operational for passengers within the next three months. Once the prototype has been thoroughly tested, production will commence, with plans to roll out two to three trains every month after the initial one-and-a-half years of production.
