Rahul Gandhi slams BJP over NEET row

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday alleged that the ‘irregularities’ in the NEET medical entrance examination have devastated close to 24 lakh students, and promised to be the “voice of the students in Parliament”.

“We had pledged in our manifesto to give students ‘freedom from paper leaks’ by making a law. Today, I assure all the students of the country that I will become your voice in Parliament and strongly raise the issues related to your future,” the Congress leader said.

After 67 candidates shared the first rank in the NEET-UG exam, including eight from the same centre in Haryana, a massive row erupted with Congress alleging manipulations, inflation of marks, and paper leaks.

“Narendra Modi has not even taken oath yet, and the irregularities in the NEET exam have devastated more than 24 lakh students and their families,” Gandhi wrote in Hindi on X.

The Congress leader noted that six students from a single exam centre topping the exam with maximum marks is technically not possible. He alleged a ‘paper leak industry’ is running in connivance with the education mafia and the government machinery, and stated that Congress had made a robust plan to deal with the issue.

However, the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the JEE examination, rejected the allegations of irregularities and paper leaks and formed a high-level panel to probe the charges of inflated grace marks.
