’Raanuvan’ – A Musical Tribute to the Indian Army

The entire country owes a lot to the Indian Army, where the soldiers alienated from their families and happiness are serving relentlessly as our protectors. Actor Kadhal Kannan, a versatile performer, well-known for his groovy performances for the past 18 years with a wide array of movies including Kadhal, Eeram, Ko, Kattradhu Tamizh, 100,144, Thumba and many films, has now conceptualised and directed a tribute song titled ‘Raanuvan’, produced by Vimal, Praveen, and Siva.

Sharing the news, he says, “I have always aspired to be a social activist and have traveled along the path with dedication, which in turn, gained me valuable felicitations like ‘Honorary Doctorate’ by Jerusalem University followed by ‘Best Social Activist’ and ‘Best Actor Award’ by HRO International. I have unceasingly admired the Indian Army Force that continues to safeguard and protect our country. I wanted to pay my tribute in the right way, and that’s when I came across a wonderful project. Vimal has composed music and Praveen has penned lyrics for the song. I was given the task of conceptualising and directing it, which offered a double delight. The first reason to get elated was this opportunity of paying tribute to the Indian Army Force, and the other one: Myself embarking on a directorial journey through this song. This song is pure dedication and isn’t done for commercial or monetary gains. We are releasing this song on August 15, 2023, for the special occasion of Independence Day. It would be a great thing if the song gets screened in all the theatres before the commencement of respective shows.”

The song features newcomers alongside director-actor Kadhal Kannan and Sabir Ali Khan is handling cinematography. The entire shoot of this song was completed in 3 days.  It is worth mentioning that the King of Screenplay and Versatile Filmmaker – K Bhagyaraj unveiled the song’s first look.
