Protests rock Parliament over security breach row

The Lok Sabha security breach issue continued to rock the proceedings of both the Houses of Parliament on the second consecutive day on Friday.

Both, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha have been adjourned for the day.

When the Lok Sabha reassembled after first adjournment at 2 PM, opposition members again trooped into the well, raising slogans over the issue.

The Presiding Officer adjourned the House for the day. Earlier, when the Lok Sabha met this morning, opposition MPs including from Congress, TMC, DMK, JD(U) and others were in the well raising slogans against the government for lapses in the security of Lok Sabha.

They were also protesting against the suspension of opposition parties MPs over the issue.

Protesting members were holding placards and demanding Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement and discussion in the House. Amid din, the Presiding Officer adjourned the House till 2 PM, minutes after it met for the day.

Similar scenes were witnessed in the Rajya Sabha. When the Upper House reassembled after first adjournment at 2 PM, the opposition members created ruckus leading to adjournment of the House for the day.

Earlier in the morning, when the House met for the day, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar disallowed the adjournment notices moved by the opposition members over the security breach issue.

The Chairman said, investigation in the matter is underway and it will reach its logical conclusion.
