President Murmu nominates four members to Rajya Sabha
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday congratulated four distinguished individuals nominated to the Rajya Sabha by President Droupadi Murmu, lauding their contributions across diverse fields.
President Murmu nominated them to Rajya Sabha on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
The nominated members are Ujjwal Nikam, C. Sadanandan Master, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, and Dr. Meenakshi Jain. The notification, dated July 12, 2025, was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
In a series of posts on X, PM Modi wished all four nominees success in their parliamentary roles and expressed hope that their presence would bring valuable perspectives to the Rajya Sabha.
The nominations were made under sub-section (a) of clause (1) of Article 80 of the Indian Constitution, which empowers the President to nominate individuals who have made significant contributions in the fields of art, literature, science, and social service.
These appointments come in place of retired nominated members and are aimed at ensuring diverse representation and expertise in the Rajya Sabha.
