President Murmu highlights Operation Sindoor in Independence Day Address
President Droupadi Murmu, in her address to the nation ahead of Independence Day, described Operation Sindoor as evidence of India’s military preparedness and ability to conduct precision operations against terrorist infrastructure.
Referring to the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22, in which 26 people were killed, Murmu said the subsequent military response demonstrated the country’s capacity to confront terrorism.
Operation Sindoor was launched by India in May against what the government described as terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. India said the strikes were aimed at terror facilities and were carried out with precision.
The President also delivered a firm message to terrorists and those who assist them, stressing that geographical boundaries would not protect them from the consequences of their actions.
India has repeatedly accused Pakistan of supporting or providing safe haven to terrorist organisations, allegations that Islamabad has rejected.
Murmu’s remarks placed national security and the fight against terrorism among the key themes of her Independence Day message, while also highlighting the role of the armed forces in protecting the country.
