PM Modi urges peace in Ukraine during call with Putin

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin in a detailed phone conversation on Friday, focusing on the ongoing Russia–Ukraine war and reviewing the India–Russia bilateral agenda.

President Putin briefed PM Modi on the latest developments related to the Ukraine conflict, while the Indian Prime Minister reiterated India’s long-standing position — calling for a peaceful resolution through dialogue and diplomacy.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the India–Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership and discussed ways to strengthen it further.

PM Modi also extended a formal invitation to President Putin to visit India later this year for the 23rd India–Russia Annual Summit.

Following the call, PM Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to share details, calling the conversation “very good and detailed,” and expressing his anticipation to host Putin in India.
