PM Modi urges citizens to mark Independence Day with pride and build a developed India
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens to observe Independence Day with pride and use the occasion to reaffirm their commitment to building a developed India.
In a post on Instagram, Modi shared footage from the NDA parliamentary party’s weekly meeting in Delhi. The video showed ministers and MPs waving the national flag and chanting patriotic slogans as he arrived at the venue.
Modi called on people to remember the country’s freedom fighters and participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign by displaying the national flag at home.
Earlier, when Modi entered the GMC Balayogi Auditorium at the Parliament complex, members of the NDA welcomed him by waving the tricolour and chanting “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”. The prime minister responded by holding and waving a national flag himself.
Among those present were BJP president Nitin Nabin and Union ministers Amit Shah, Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and S Jaishankar.
NDA allies were also represented by ministers and leaders including HD Kumaraswamy of the JD(S), Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu of the TDP, Ramdas Bandu Athawale, Praful Patel, Upendra Kushwaha and Satabdi Roy.
The meeting also featured a presentation by Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Paatil. It covered the ministry’s responsibilities relating to water policy, conservation, development and management, as well as national-level planning and coordination for different uses of water.
