PM Modi urges citizens to make ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign a “mass movement”
As India prepares to celebrate its 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a nationwide call to action, urging citizens to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The Prime Minister is encouraging Indians to hoist the national flag at their residences, transforming the initiative into a mass movement.
Leading by example, PM Modi changed his social media profile picture to the Tricolor and invited others to do the same. He also shared a link to the official campaign website, harghartiranga.com, where citizens can upload selfies with the national flag.
In a social media post on X, PM Modi wrote, “As this year’s Independence Day approaches, let’s again make #HarGharTiranga a memorable mass movement. I am changing my profile picture and I urge you all to join me in celebrating our Tricolour by doing the same. And yes, do share your selfies on https://harghartiranga.com.”
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to launch the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign nationwide from August 11 to August 14. During this period, the party will conduct Tiranga Yatras (Tricolor marches) and encourage the hoisting of the national flag on homes, shops, and offices. A cleanliness drive will also be part of the campaign.
This initiative aligns with the Prime Minister’s recent appeal during his 112th ‘Mann Ki Baat’ address on July 28, where he called for widespread participation in the campaign. Modi noted the growing trend of citizens sharing selfies with the national flag on social media and urged party leaders to ensure the flag’s presence across various establishments.
‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ is a component of the broader Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a government initiative celebrating 75 years of Indian independence. Launched in 2021, the campaign aims to instill a sense of patriotism and raise awareness about the national flag.
