PM Modi speaks to Nepal PM, assures all help
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah on Wednesday and conveyed India’s condolences over the loss of lives in the devastating floods.
Modi said India was prepared to extend humanitarian assistance and that Indian teams were coordinating with Nepal on rescue and relief operations.
The Indian Air Force has begun preparations to transport emergency supplies to Nepal. A C-130 aircraft carrying relief material was scheduled to leave Hindon Air Base on Wednesday night, followed by a C-17 aircraft carrying additional supplies on Thursday morning.
The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu said it was working with Nepalese authorities to speed up rescue and relief efforts for Indian nationals caught in the disaster.
Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi also expressed condolences and urged the Union government to work closely with Nepal to locate missing Indian citizens and facilitate their return.
