PM Modi Pays Tribute to Armed Forces Veterans on OROP Implementation Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the anniversary of the implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, paying tribute to the brave veterans of the Indian Armed Forces. On this significant day, PM Modi highlighted the government’s dedication to addressing the welfare of ex-servicemen and the enduring commitment to the nation’s security forces.

In his message, the Prime Minister acknowledged the tireless contributions of India’s soldiers, underscoring the importance of initiatives like OROP in ensuring that veterans are honored for their service. He reaffirmed the government’s resolve to continuously work for the well-being of the country’s military personnel, noting that OROP was a historic step toward rectifying disparities in pension payments for retired armed forces personnel.

The OROP scheme, which was formally implemented in 2015, aims to provide equal pensions to soldiers who retire at the same rank, regardless of their retirement date. This initiative, according to PM Modi, reflects the government’s commitment to fulfilling its promises to the armed forces.

Veterans and their families, who have long awaited such reforms, expressed their appreciation for the government’s decision, which they believe brings justice and equity to those who have served the nation.

In addition to paying tribute, the Prime Minister also reiterated that the armed forces remain central to the nation’s defense strategy and highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to modernize and strengthen India’s military capabilities.
