PM Modi lying blatantly on funds transfer: CM Stalin

Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his ‘family politics’ jibe, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday said that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government is indeed “family rule,” but one that strived for the welfare of every family.

“Some call us (DMK) a family rule. Yes, this is a family rule! A family that gives a helping hand to every family of Tamil Nadu,” Stalin said in an official statement, without naming the Prime Minister.

In the past few days, PM Modi has voiced criticism against the DMK, Congress, and other political entities, highlighting the concerning trend of political dynasties reigning from “Jammu and Kashmir to Tamil Nadu”.

Last week, PM Modi took a jibe at the DMK government in Tamil Nadu over the ‘dynastic politics’. “DMK’s dynasty politics is an insult to the late MG Ramachandran,” PM said while addressing a rally in the southern state.

Stalin also questioned the Prime Minister’s recent claim that central funds were directly benefiting the people of the state, as the ruling DMK does not cooperate with the Centre on its welfare schemes.

Stalin also accused the Union government of “drastically reducing” the funds for Tamil Nadu to show its “partiality”.

“When PM Modi visited Chennai a few days ago, he lied that funds are being directly sent to people’s accounts instead of being given to the state government. Had he mentioned the details of people, we could have asked them whether they received funds or not,” CM MK Stalin said.
