PM Modi announces fast-track courts for paper leak cases
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced a series of measures aimed at tackling examination paper leaks, saying the government would establish fast-track courts to ensure speedy trials and strict punishment for those responsible.
In a statement posted on social media, the Prime Minister said protecting the future of young people remained a top priority and directed officials to take all necessary action in connection with the alleged NEET paper leak.
He stated that individuals attempting to undermine students’ futures would face firm legal consequences and described the government’s latest steps as part of broader efforts to safeguard the interests of candidates appearing for competitive examinations.
The Prime Minister had earlier condemned examination paper leaks as a serious offence and called on both the Centre and state governments to work together to address the issue, saying it should be treated as a matter of national interest rather than political rivalry.
He also urged National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Members of Parliament to maintain close engagement with the public and strengthen the confidence of young people.
The remarks come amid growing protests over the alleged NEET paper leak. Thousands of demonstrators had earlier marched towards Parliament, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan before police intervened using batons and tear gas to disperse the gathering.
Following a meeting of the NDA Parliamentary Party, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the Prime Minister informed MPs that authorities had acted promptly after reports of the alleged leak surfaced, resulting in the arrest of 13 individuals.
