PM inaugurates Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025
The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 opened on Friday at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurating the event.
Bringing together over 34 leading automobile manufacturers, the expo is set to highlight advancements in mobility with more than 100 vehicle launches expected.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, at the event, called India’s growing automotive sector “fantastic and future-ready.”
He credited leaders like Ratan Tata and Osamu Suzuki for shaping the industry and predicted an eightfold increase in electric vehicle (EV) sales by 2030.
Modi assured government support for green technology, including EVs, hydrogen fuel, and biofuels, and stressed the sector’s role in India’s ‘Viksit Bharat’ journey.
He lauded the ‘Make in India’ initiative, which, supported by the PLI scheme, has created ₹2.25 lakh crore in sales and 1.5 lakh jobs.
Piyush Goyal, Minister of Industry and Supply, highlighted India’s growing influence in the global automotive landscape and said, “The Bharat Mobility Expo has become the second biggest automotive show in the world.” He added that the automotive sector will play a pivotal role in achieving India’s vision of becoming a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) by 2047.
Several key launches and presentations mark the first day of the expo.
Maruti Suzuki unveiled its first electric vehicle, the e-Vitara, a major milestone in its journey towards electric mobility.
Hyundai introduced the e-Creta, officially launching the vehicle and announcing its pricing, further expanding its electric offerings.
Tata Motors showcased two significant additions, the production-ready Sierra EV and Harrier EV, signalling its focus on innovative design and sustainability.
Other major launches included MG Motor’s unveiling of the MG Cyberster, an electric sports car, and the M9, a presidential limousine designed for luxury and performance.
Porsche presented the Macan ICE GTS and the Macan BEV, offering attendees a glimpse of its diverse approach to mobility.
