*“Playing the Character of Manimegalai Was a Challenging Experience in ‘Enna Vilai’” – Actress Shashaa Shivakumar

Actress Shashaa Shivakumar, who has been steadily making her presence felt with varied roles, is set to appear in a pivotal character in Enna Vilai, written and directed by Sajeev Pazhoor. The film marks a different experience for the actress, as she plays Manimegalai, a rural girl, for the first time. With the film all set for the theatrical release on September 17,  Saasha shares how she prepared for the character even before stepping onto the sets and how the film offered her an opportunity to explore a completely different milieu.

Speaking about her role in Enna Vilai, Shashaa Shivakumar says, “Manimegalai is a very special character for me, as this is the first time I have played a rural girl. I prepared myself for the character even before going to the sets, which helped me understand and approach the role better. It was a completely different experience for me, and I am very happy to have got an opportunity like this through Enna Vilai.”

Shashaa Shivakumar also shares her experience of working alongside Karunaas and Nimisha Sajayan, describing the opportunity as a responsibility given their talent and commitment. She also praises director Sajeev Pazhoor for creating a comfortable working environment through his patient and respectful approach towards everyone on the sets.

“Karunaas sir is a wonderful actor, and Nimisha is extremely talented and hardworking. When you perform alongside actors like them, it naturally comes with a great sense of responsibility. Director Sajeev sir was always very patient and respectful with everyone on the sets, which made the experience very special. This was also my first time working with a Malayalam team, so it was a very different and enriching experience for me,” she adds.

Set against a socially relevant backdrop, Enna Vilai revolves around a man who retrieves coins offered by devotees into the sea near Rameswaram, with his struggle for dignity and survival eventually leading to a significant legal battle.

The film features Karunaas, Nimisha Sajayan, Saasha, Vijayalakshmi Ahathian, Chiththa Darshan, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Y.G. Mahendran, Motta Rajendran, Nizhalgal Ravi, Praveena, Mohan Ram, Chetan Kumar, Kavithalaya Krishnan, Kamalesh, Goli Soda Pandi, J.S. Kavi, Swaminathan, Deepa Shankar, Kavi Nakkalitesand others.

Written and directed by Sajeev Pazhoor, Enna Vilai is produced by Githesh V under the banner of Kalamaya Films. The technical crew includes Sam C.S. (Music), Alby Antony (Cinematography) and Sreejith Sarang (Editing).

With its socially relevant premise and strong ensemble of performers, Enna Vilai is gearing up for its worldwide theatrical release on September 17, 2026.
