“Parimala and Co” Movie Review

“A delightful family thriller where every character holds a secret and every twist keeps the audience engaged.”

This family entertainer revolves around a lovable middle-class household consisting of a husband (Jayaram), wife (Urvashi), elder daughter Parasakthi (Sanjana Krishnamurthy), and younger daughter Madhumitha (Ananthika Sanilkumar). Like many families, they live in a rented house and share everyday joys, misunderstandings, arguments, and affectionate moments. Their landlord, played by Yogi Babu, often finds himself worried about the family’s carefree nature, leading to several humorous situations.

The film beautifully captures the realities of middle-class life through the constant banter between husband and wife and the lively sibling rivalry between the daughters. These moments feel authentic and relatable, creating a strong emotional connection with the audience.

The story takes an intriguing turn when Parasakthi falls in love with a seemingly innocent young man. However, her life becomes complicated when a politically connected rowdy (Dance Chandy) begins to harass her in the name of love. Despite the challenges, Parasakthi emerges as a courageous young woman who stands up for herself and refuses to be intimidated. The rowdy’s mother surprisingly supports her son’s actions, adding another interesting layer to the narrative.

When the troublesome rowdy is suddenly murdered, suspicion falls on several members of the family. An unconventional police inspector, played by Mysskin, begins investigating the case. As the mystery unfolds, family members start suspecting one another, leading to a series of entertaining twists and turns. The central question remains: who killed the rowdy, and why?

The performances are one of the film’s greatest strengths. Jayaram and Urvashi bring warmth, charm, and natural chemistry to their roles. Sanjana Krishnamurthy and Ananthika Sanilkumar deliver engaging performances, while Mysskin’s unique screen presence adds freshness to the investigation sequences. Gayathri also leaves a strong impression in her role.

The story with a blend of comedy, family emotions, suspense, and social commentary. The film raises important questions about the safety of young women and the pressures faced by middle-class families. Supported by memorable songs, strong production design, and numerous familiar faces in supporting roles, the film remains entertaining throughout and concludes with a meaningful message for students and young people.
