Paradha’s trailer Released

Lifting the Veil on Regressive Social Norms; Anupama Parameswaran, Darshana Rajendran and Sanghita Krish starrer Paradha’s trailer launched

Praveen Kandregula’s bilingual drama confronts regressive traditions while celebrating women’s agency

From its very first frame, the trailer of Paradha makes its intentions clear, of blending thrills, traditions, rebellion, and heartfelt emotion into a compelling narrative. The trailer, released in both Telugu and Malayalam, offers a glimpse into a world where age-old customs are passed down as sacred tradition, yet often serve to confine women’s freedom and visibility. In doing so, it opens up a larger conversation about the delicate balance between preserving culture and embracing individual choice.

Directed by Praveen Kandregula (Cinema Bandi, Subham), Paradha follows Subbu (played by Anupama Parameswaran), a young woman from a small village bound by the tradition of keeping her face hidden behind the paradha. Subbu’s fate changes when she crosses paths with two women from the city, played by Darshana Rajendran and Sanghita Krish, who help her confront the walls built around her life.

Beyond its intimate storyline, Paradha is also a mirror to society. It critiques deep-rooted regressive social norms that have, for generations, determined the place of women in the name of tradition. At the same time, it is a celebration of solidarity, resilience, and the courage to demand change.

Produced by Vijay Donkada, Sreenivasulu PV, and Sridhar Makkuva under the banner of Ananda Media, the film also features Rag Mayur in a key role. Mridul Sujit Sen handles cinematography, Dharmendra Kakarala is the editor, and music is composed by Gopi Sundar. Telugu marketing and PR is handled by Vamsi Sekhar,  and Malayalam Marketing & Communications is handled by Dr Sangeetha Janachandran of Stories Social. Paradha will be released simultaneously in Telugu and Malayalam on August 22, 2025.
