Over 99 lakh people have travelled in metro in August
Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has announced that 99,09,632 passengers travelled in metro trains during the month of August 2025.
The highest single-day ridership for the month was recorded on 14th August 2025, when 4,09,590 passengers used the metro services.
To encourage more commuters, CMRL continues to offer a 20% discount on all its ticketing services, including the digital store value pass (available on the CMRL mobile app) and online QR tickets. However, this discount is not applicable for single journey paper QR tickets purchased at ticket counters.
CMRL expressed gratitude to the people of Chennai for their continued support and cooperation, reaffirming its commitment to being a safe, efficient, and reliable travel partner for the city.
Meanwhile, the overall ridership in 2025 was 86.99 lakh in January, 86.65 lakh in February, 92.10 lakh in March, 87.59 lakh in April, 89.09 lakh in May, 92.19 lakh in June and 1.03 crore in July.
