“Once More” Movie Review

Vignesh Srikanth’s Once More is a warm, breezy romantic drama that may revisit familiar themes, but brings enough tenderness, charm and emotional sincerity to make the journey enjoyable. The title feels fitting—not only because Raghuvaran gets a second chance at love, but because the film itself gives a familiar romantic template another opportunity to connect with the audience.

Arjun Das is perfectly cast as Raghuvaran, a man who has become so accustomed to sadness that it has turned into his comfort zone. His brooding screen presence suits the character beautifully, while his gradual transformation feels believable and understated. Into his guarded world comes Anjali, played with infectious warmth by Aditi Shankar. Their first meeting at a bus stop, accompanied by the wonderfully apt “second chances” tagline, immediately establishes the film’s optimistic spirit.

What works particularly well in the first half is the simplicity of the romance. Instead of relying entirely on conventional café dates, the film takes the couple to unexpected places such as Moore Market, creating charming and refreshing moments. Raghu’s description of Anjali as an “alien” and her reaction to it are small but delightful touches that capture their growing connection.

Aditi Shankar is one of the film’s biggest strengths. Her performance has a noticeable maturity and subtlety, allowing Anjali to remain cheerful and affectionate without becoming overwhelming. Her warmth becomes the emotional heart of the film.

The healing theme is also handled thoughtfully. Raghu’s injured hand becomes a recurring visual metaphor for his emotional wounds, and the way the film connects his past pain with his eventual acceptance of healing is particularly poetic. These details give the otherwise light-hearted romance an emotional foundation.

Hesham Abdul Wahab’s bright, soothing music further enhances the feel-good atmosphere, helping the film move effortlessly through its most engaging stretches.

While the past-love portions could have been developed with greater emotional depth, they nevertheless provide important context for Raghu’s guarded nature and his fear of moving forward. The film’s greatest achievement is the tenderness of its present-day romance and the genuine chemistry between its leads.

Ultimately, Once More is a feel-good film about healing, second chances and learning to embrace happiness. Its familiar story is elevated by sincere performances, lovely musical moments and an abundance of heart. It may not reinvent the romantic-drama genre, but it delivers a comforting, hopeful and pleasant experience that leaves behind a smile.
