This film, set in the romantic action genre and inspired by real events, explores how contemporary youth are willing to make significant sacrifices for love. It delves into the challenges they encounter due to their youthful naivety, while also presenting a unique perspective on their struggles to achieve success in their romantic endeavors.
Director Alvin commented on the film, stating, “In the past, love was regarded as a significant matter. When an individual fell in love, it often took years for them to convey their feelings. Even after many years, when they finally expressed their love, it was profound and enduring. However, in today’s society, even unreciprocated love is often declared without delay. Nonetheless, the focus and intensity they show in expressing love isn’t found in their stability and maturity to sustain it. ‘Om Shivam’ is about one such love story.”
Furthermore, he continues to reveal the film’s story premise, “A 20-year-old young man develops deep feelings for a young woman. However, a dramatic turn of events occurs when his girlfriend tragically passes away. Following her death, the protagonist’s life spirals into despair, only to be further shocked when his deceased girlfriend miraculously returns to life. This unexpected resurrection alters the course of the hero’s existence, prompting questions about the circumstances surrounding her revival and the impact it has on his life. I have presented this narrative in a more concise manner, incorporating action from an alternative perspectives.”
While shedding lights on the significance of title ‘Om Shivam’, director Alwin says, “Lord Shiva is always associated with fury and anger when things go wrong. The film’s protagonist owns this nature, and hence we decided to go with this title. Since, it is common in all the languages, we decided to title the same for all the three languages.”
