NEET: EPS comes down heavily on DMK govt
AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) responded to actor Vijay’s recent remarks about the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters in Salem, EPS stated that Vijay was expressing his views to motivate his party cadres, adding that all political leaders make similar statements to inspire their followers.
When asked about Vijay’s assertion that the real contest in 2026 would be between the DMK and TVK, EPS said, “Go ask him. AIADMK remains the principal opposition party, and the people have recognized that. Those starting new parties look up to AIADMK leaders as examples.”
Meanwhile, EPS released a strong statement on social media condemning the Tamil Nadu government over the tragic suicide of a NEET aspirant, Darshini, in Chennai. He accused the ruling DMK of misleading students with false promises of abolishing the exam while failing to take any concrete steps.
EPS pointed out that several students had taken their own lives due to the pressure of NEET since 2021 and listed 19 such cases, blaming the DMK government for their deaths. He accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin and Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin of using NEET as a political tool while doing nothing to eliminate it.
“How many more lives must be lost before the DMK stops its political drama on NEET? Will Stalin take responsibility for these deaths? The government’s hands are stained with the blood of innocent students,” he said, demanding immediate action.
Addressing students, EPS urged them not to lose hope, saying, “Life is valuable. The world is vast, and opportunities are endless. Never give up; success will come to you.”
