Nayanthara to play dual role in Mookuthi Amman 2
Recent reports and announcements have confirmed that Nayanthara is indeed set to play a dual role in the upcoming sequel, Mookuthi Amman 2.
While she will be reprising her role as the titular goddess, the second character she will portray is reportedly a police officer.
The film, which is directed by Sundar C, had its official launch with a puja ceremony in Chennai on March 6, 2025.
This sequel is being produced on a large scale with a reported budget of Rs 100 crore.
Kannada actor Duniya Vijay has been cast as the antagonist, and the film also stars Regina Cassandra, Yogi Babu, and other supporting actors.
While the original Mookuthi Amman”was a fantasy-comedy that focused on a goddess helping a news anchor expose a fake godman, the sequel’s plot is expected to be a high-concept fantasy with powerful visuals.
The new film will follow the goddess’s battle against a new kind of evil, with the tagline “When the evil rises, Amman strikes.” A release date has not been officially confirmed, but there is speculation that it might release during the Deepavali festival of 2025.
