Modi hails bypoll victories in Bengal, Assam and Puducherry

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated BJP candidates and party workers following electoral victories and strong performances in recent by-elections across West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry.

In a message posted on X on Friday, Modi said the results reflected continued public support for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s governance agenda. He also praised party workers for their efforts and congratulated the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC), an NDA ally, on its victory in Puducherry.

The Prime Minister highlighted the BJP’s performances in West Bengal, particularly in Nandigram and Rejinagar, while also pointing to the party’s showing in Assam’s Nagaon parliamentary constituency.

According to Election Commission of India figures, BJP candidate Hasi Rani Rath won the Nandigram Assembly by-election with 1,64,427 votes, defeating her nearest rival by 1,22,753 votes.

In Rejinagar, BJP candidate Sakharav Sarkar secured 1,29,914 votes and won by a margin of 75,816 votes.

Puducherry also delivered a win for the NDA, with AINRC candidate Ashok Anand capturing the Thattanchavady Assembly seat. He received 13,358 votes and secured victory by 8,482 votes.

In Assam, BJP candidate Devasish Sharma was leading in the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency with 6,91,804 votes and a margin of 1,57,804 votes, according to the available election data.

Modi said the mandate would encourage the alliance to continue working towards public welfare and economic progress. He also used the occasion to acknowledge the contribution of party workers in securing the results.

The outcomes provide a boost to the BJP and its allies in the constituencies concerned, with the party leadership presenting the results as evidence of continued voter confidence in its governance platform.
