MK Stalin announces Rs 5 lakh aid to kin of Tamilians killed

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin confirmed that seven Tamilians died in a massive fire that engulfed a building in Kuwait. Offering condolences to the bereaved families, Stalin announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to each family.

In a statement, CM Stalin said that with the help of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait and other Tamil organisations, the bodies of the seven fire victims are being brought to Tamil Nadu in a private plane.

He has also instructed the Department of Welfare of Non-Resident Tamils to ensure all necessary assistance is provided to those from the state who are undergoing treatment in Kuwait.

The CM urged people to reach out to the government helpline numbers if they require any help.

The victims have been identified as Veerachamy Mariappan from Thoothukudi district, Krishnamoorthy Chinnadurai from Cuddalore district, Govindan Shivshankar from Chennai, Raju Ebamesan from Trichy district, Bhunaf Richard from Thanjavur district, Karupannan Ramu from Ramanathapuram district, and Mohammed Sharief from Villupuram district.

Forty-five Indians were among the 49 people killed in a fire tragedy in Kuwait that occurred on Tuesday night. An Indian Air Force plane will bring back the bodies of the deceased to India for their last rites.
