Members of the Inner Wheel Club of Chennai Verve Adopted the Entire Turtle Enclosure at The Madras Crocodile Bank

The Inner Wheel Club of Chennai Verve (IWCCV) members today adopted the entire Turtle enclosure at the Madras Crocodile bank as a part of their year’s theme of giving back to nature and helping our voiceless animal friends. This is part of The Inner Wheel Club of Chennai Verve initiative to support the United Nations’ Sustainable Goal No. 14 Life Below Water – Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

President of the Club Vandana Shah Madhok and her extremely supportive team who include Monica Shanker – Club Secretary, Y. N. Veena – Club Treasurer and Pavithra Udupa –Club International Services Officer and all the members and the executive team had wonderful opportunity to contribute towards a cause that saves the endangered species like Indian Flap Shell turtle, Tent turtle, Travancore tortoise, Red Crowned Roofed turtle, the Northern River terrapin and the Gangetic Softshell turtle.

The Inner Wheel Club of Chennai Verve, President, Mrs Vandana Shah Madhok, said, “This project is very special to us as we aim to protect and provide better care for these animals. The turtle enclosure has been adopted for an entire year towards which Rs.80,000/- has been generously donated by the club members itself. We have adopted 12 turtles from the Madras Crocodile bank.”

Our theme for this year has been Animal Welfare – Voice for the Voiceless. We have earlier supported the Birdman of Chennai, who has been feeding more than 500 parrots twice a day for 30 years now. We have also supported the rescued horses at The Sanctuary ECR farm which also supports cattle and dogs.
