Madras High Court refuses to quash all 11 pending cases against BJP leader H Raja
The Madras High Court has refused to quash all 11 cases pending against senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader H Raja, responding to a petition moved in the court.
H Raja, who was also a former national secretary of the party, has 11 cases pending against him in the Madras HC, including a statue vandalism case and a few defamation cases.
In 2018, Raja participated in a public meeting organised by the right-wing outfit Hindu Munnani in Vedasandur of Dindigul district and made a controversial speech.
Many cases were filed against his speech in a number of police stations in the state, alleging that Raja had made some derogatory comments about the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department officials and the women in their families.
Similarly, one of Raja’s tweets that went viral and garnered a lot of flak pertained to him warning the Left outfits that he would vandalise Periyar’s statue. Another important defamation case against him pertains to his comments about Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi.
