Madras HC Rejects Tamannaah Bhatia’s Rs 1-Cr Plea Against Soap Firm

The Madras High Court on Thursday (April 16, 2026) dismissed a petition filed by actress Tamannaah Bhatia seeking Rs 1 crore in damages from Power Soaps for allegedly continuing to use her photographs on soap wrappers and promotional materials even after the expiry of the agreement in 2009 as their brand ambassador.

As per reports, a Division Bench of Justices P. Velmurugan and K. Govindarajan Thilakavadi rejected the original side appeal filed by Tamannaah in 2018, challenging the dismissal of her 2011 civil suit by a single judge of the High Court on April 17, 2017.She was unable to produce evidence to substantiate that the company had used her photos on the soap wrappers or any other material.

The Puducherry-based company also opposed her plea, denying such usage or any exploitation of her photographs in their advertisements after the agreement period.

The Baahubali actress, who is busy with films, OTT projects and special appearances, also has a high-profile presence in the Indian advertising market.

With a diverse portfolio covering beauty, retail, and FMCG sectors, her latest endorsement in March 2026 is LOVETC, the premium colour cosmetics brand under Ananya Birla’s Birla Cosmetics, which appointed her as the face of the brand on Wednesday.
