Madras HC Bench reserves orders in Vijay’s Jana Nayagan censor case
With the Madras High Court resuming hearing in the Jana Nayagan case on Tuesday, January 20, both the makers of the movie and fans of Vijay were excited and hopeful that the hurdles ahead of the political action drama would finally be cleared, paving the way for its release.
Although a division bench, comprising Chief Justice Manindra Mohan Shrivastava and Justice G Arul Murugan, heard the matter in detail during the day, the court reserved its order and abstained from pronouncing a verdict immediately.
Marking Vijay’s final film before his full-fledged political entry, director H Vinoth’s Jana Nayagan was supposed to hit the screens on January 9 as a Pongal release.
However, a few days before the scheduled release date, the CBFC informed the movie’s makers that the board’s chairman had decided to refer Jana Nayagan to a revising committee.
Following this, Team Jana Nayagan approached the High Court, where the CBFC maintained that a fresh committee had been appointed to review the movie again.
