Madhavan says politics is not for him despite praising CM Vijay
Actor R. Madhavan has clarified that he has no plans to enter politics, even while expressing admiration for recent political developments in Tamil Nadu.
Speaking during the promotion of his latest film G.D.N. that tracks the life of G.D. Naidu, Madhavan said he was encouraged by the changes taking place in the state’s political landscape and was pleased to see actor-turned-politician Vijay become Chief Minister.
He said Vijay’s political rise had reinforced his belief that significant change is possible and described him as a friend whose achievement made him proud.
Madhavan also recalled knowing Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin from his childhood and said he was happy to see him take on a major public role. He added that good governance benefiting the public would be welcome regardless of political affiliations.
However, the actor ruled out entering politics himself. He described public life as challenging because leaders face criticism regardless of their decisions and said he has no desire to seek political office.
Madhavan added that political leadership requires a genuine spirit of public service, something he believes he does not possess, making it clear that acting remains his preferred career.
