‘Made In Korea’ Movie Review

As the world continues to embrace the global influence of Korean entertainment, Made In Korea starring Priyanka Mohan arrives at an opportune moment. The film taps into the ever-growing fascination with K-culture and attempts to present a heartfelt journey of admiration, curiosity, and cultural connection. While its storytelling is simple, the film’s warmth and sincerity make it an engaging watch, largely carried by Priyanka Mohan’s earnest performance.

Like many fans across the world who discovered Korean dramas and music in recent years, the film reflects the excitement that comes with exploring this vibrant culture. Anyone who has spent years watching K-Dramas or listening to K-Pop can relate to the thrill of finally visiting South Korea. Walking through the streets of Seoul, spotting posters of popular stars such as Byeon Woo-seok, or stepping into convenience stores to try local favourites like ramen and banana milk can feel magical. These experiences capture the universal joy of connecting with a culture that once felt distant but familiar through screens.

In the film, Shenba (Priyanka Mohan) arrives in Seoul under circumstances that are not entirely ideal, yet her journey still reflects the curiosity of a devoted fan discovering a dream destination. A lively montage song shows her exploring iconic locations such as N Seoul Tower and Lotte World, giving audiences a glimpse of the excitement that comes with visiting these well-known spots. Though these moments are brief, they highlight the sense of wonder that many fans feel when they finally see these places in real life.

Shenba’s fascination with Korean culture begins in her childhood while growing up in the scenic hills of Tamil Nadu. During a school fancy-dress competition, she learns about a possible historical link between Korea and her homeland. This discovery sparks her interest in Korean history and gradually blossoms into a love for K-culture. Soon, her room is decorated with posters of Lee Min-ho, she enjoys K-Pop music, and she even begins learning the Korean language.

Small moments throughout the film beautifully capture this fan enthusiasm. In one memorable scene, Shenba confidently walks into a restaurant and orders a So-Maek — the popular mix of soju and beer she learned about from watching K-Dramas. Scenes like these bring a charming authenticity to the film and celebrate the joy of cultural discovery.
