Maayabimbum Director KJ Surendar’s next film with Vels Film International

Maayabimbum : A 2005 Love Story is already receiving strong appreciation from the press, media and industry for its layered storytelling, screenplay and performances.

The film has drawn praise from industry stalwarts including K. Bhagyaraj, Ameer Sultan, Raam and Aghathiyan, while a special press screening held at Prasad Labs on Monday, January 19, was met with a tremendous response, with widespread positive feedback pouring in.

However, the biggest boost to the film’s buzz comes from Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh of Vels Film International, who, after watching the film at a special screening, was so impressed that he has offered to produce director KJ Surendar’s next film — even before the release of his debut.
In an exclusive video shared with the press and media, Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh said, “I was quite skeptical before watching the film since it comprises a fresh cast and crew, but as the film progressed, I was completely drawn into it.”

He further added, “The film reminded me of my younger days. I laugh very rarely while watching films — including films I’ve produced — but this film had me laughing at several moments in the first half.”

Highlighting the film’s emotional impact, he said, “In complete contrast, the second half had a huge impact. I still get goosebumps whenever I think about the climax. I was so impressed that I have offered to produce KJ Surendar’s next film with Vels Film International.”
Written, produced and directed by debutant KJ Surendar, the film features cinematography by Edwin Sakay, music by Nandha and editing by Vinoth Sivakumar. The film stars a fresh cast including Akash Nagarajan, Janaki Srinivasan, S. Hari Krishna, Rajesh Bala and M. Arun Kumar.
Such a gesture is extremely rare in the industry, with a producer of Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh’s stature committing to a director’s next project and signing the agreement even before the release of his debut film — significantly elevating the anticipation and hype surrounding Maayabimbum : A 2005 Love Story.
