Legendary singer Asha Bhosle to be cremated in Mumbai today
Legendary singer Asha Bhosle, who died on Sunday at Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital, will be cremated at 4 pm with full state honours today. She was 92.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will attend Asha Bhosle’s funeral at the city’s Shivaji Park.
Asha Bhosle’s body was taken to her Lower Parel home on Sunday evening. People will pay their last respects to the singer at 11 am today at her residence. The body will be kept at her home until 3 pm.
Asha Bhosle was rushed to the hospital on Saturday night (April 11) where she underwent treatment for “chest infection and severe exhaustion”, her granddaughter Zanai Bhosle said in an X post.
But the legendary singer, the versatile voice behind songs such as Aaiye Meherbaan, Kajra Mohabbat Wala, Jaiye Aap Kahan Jayenge, Le Gayi Le Gayi, and Kahin Aag Lage, died following multiple organ failure.
Asha Bhosle’s sudden death has sent shockwaves across the Indian film industry. Several celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Shreya Ghoshal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ram Gopal Varma, Vicky Kaushal, Anu Malik, Kamal Haasan, and Jr NTR, have condoled her death.
