Lakshmi Menon booked for kidnapping IT employee

Reports from various news outlets confirm that actress Lakshmi Menon has been booked by the Ernakulam North Police in Kochi, Kerala, in connection with the alleged kidnapping and assault of an IT employee. The incident reportedly took place on the night of Sunday, August 24, 2025.

According to the police, the case stems from a bar brawl between two groups. Following the altercation, Menon and three others allegedly followed the victim, an IT professional, and his friends. They reportedly blocked the victim’s car near the Ernakulam North railway overbridge, forcibly pulled him into their vehicle, and assaulted and threatened him before releasing him later.

Three of the accused, Mithun, Aneesh, and Sonamol, have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Lakshmi Menon has been named as an accused in the case, but she moved the Kerala High Court and was granted interim protection from arrest until September 17, 2025. The case has been registered under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including kidnapping, wrongful restraint, and voluntarily causing hurt.
