Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar passes away due to heart attack

Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar suffered a heart attack today and passed away.

He was getting treated at the Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru after complaining of chest pain. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj S Bommai reached Vikram Hospital to check on Puneeth Rajkumar.

Puneeth was 46 years old and is fondly called Appu by his fans. He is the son of legendary actors Rajkumar and Parvathamma. He has acted in over 29 Kannada films as the male lead.

He started his career as a child artist and even won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist for his performance in Bettada Hoovu in 1985. He won the Karnataka State Award for Best Child Artist for his performances in Chalisuva Modagalu and Yeradu Nakshatragalu.

Some of his famous films include Abhi, Veera Kannadiga, Ajay, Arasu, Raam, Hudugaru and Anjani Putra, among others. He was last seen in Yuvarathnaa, which was released early this year.
