Kamal Haasan applauds Treesha Thosar for National Award win

Actor Kamal Haasan extended his heartfelt congratulations to four-year-old Marathi actress Treesha Thosar for her win at the 71st National Film Awards, where she was honored with the Best Child Artist award for the film Naal 2.

The celebration was more than just a congratulatory note; it marked a historic passing of the torch.

With her win, Treesha Thosar, at just four years old, has officially broken Kamal Haasan’s long-standing record as the youngest ever National Award winner.

The veteran actor was six years old when he won his first major accolade, the President’s Gold Medal for his debut performance in the 1960 Tamil film, Kalathur Kannamma.

Taking to social media, Kamal Haasan shared a playful yet profound message, expressing his pride in the young talent for surpassing his own childhood achievement.

“Dear Ms. Treesha Thoshar, my loudest applause goes to you. You’ve beaten my record, as I was already six when I got my first award! Way to go madam. Keep working on your incredible talent. My appreciation to your elders in the house,” he wrote.

Moving beyond a public message, Kamal Haasan personally connected with the child prodigy. Kamal Haasan’s production house, Raaj Kamal Films International, shared a video clip of the actor on a video call with Treesha, who looked absolutely thrilled.

During their conversation, Haasan affectionately declared that both of them were “children of cinema,” having begun their artistic journeys at a very young age.
